Mr. Phan Van Tan

Mr. Phan Van Tan is a highly esteemed senior associate at our firm, with a very strong academic and professional background in mechanical engineering. He earned his Doctor of Philosophy in Mechanical Engineering from the prestigious St. Petersburg University in Russia, where he studied from 1987 to 1991. Prior to this, Mr. Tan completed his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering at the same institution, graduating in 1978.

Before joining KENFOX in June 2023, Mr. Tan experienced nearly 25 years of experience in working for two largest firms, Investip (from 2001-2013) and Vision and Associates (from 2014-2023).

 

Mr. Tan has extensive experience in the mechanical engineering field and has effectively managed the patent portfolios of numerous clients within this industry. His responsibilities include overseeing the translation quality of patent specifications, ensuring accuracy and clarity in all documentation. As a skilled patent translator and attorney, Mr. Tan excels in working with examiners, adeptly explaining technical matters to facilitate clear communication. His ability to articulate complex technical concepts is crucial in overcoming patent refusals, making him an invaluable asset to our team and clients.

Mr. Tan holds a comprehensive role in patent applications, encompassing the entire process from initial consultation to post-grant management.

  • Handled more than 1,500 patent and design applications in the IT, electronics, telecommunications, mechanical, and chemistry fields, among other areas.
  • Advises clients on patentability of inventions.

  • Drafts patent specifications, often translating from English to Vietnamese. Manages responses to both formality and substantive office actions issued by patent offices.
