Increasing the innovation and creation capacity in universities and research institutes through a “Hub and Spoke” structure
In the framework of the visit of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Director General Francis Gurry in Hanoi from March 21st to March 23rd 2017, a number of events were held. One of these activities is the seminar on “Increasing the innovation and creation capacity in universities and research institutes through a “Hub and Spoke” structure” that was taken place at the headquarter of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
This is a project of the Regional Bureau of Asia and the Pacific, Development Sector, WIPO to coordinate the various inputs of the different sectors of the organization to support technology and innovation support centers (TISC), WIPO GREEN and WIPO Re:Search.
The project aims at increasing the capacity of developing and least-developed countries in technology development, management and commercialization through a coordinated capacity-building program on IP and related competencies for an organized networked community of stakeholders.
In particular, through national projects, the project aims at:
1. Supporting universities and research institutions by strengthening their IP and other related competencies in the area of technology development, management and commercialization using appropriate tools, skills, knowledge;
2. Strengthening university-industry collaboration through linkages, partnerships, collaboration, interactions and transactions for technology commercialization;
3. Establish a networked community of technology professionals with the IP and other related skills and knowledge.
At present, Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and Sri Lanka has started this Project.
