KENFOX Presents Cross-border IP Strategies for Chinese Enterprises and Cooperates to Establish the Southeast Asia IP Workstation in Hanoi

On April 18, 2025, KENFOX IP & Law Office was honored to be invited to participate in and deliver a presentation at an international event held in Weihai City, Shandong, China, with the important theme: “Cross-border Intellectual Property Risks in Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Southeast Asia and Response Strategies”. Representing KENFOX, Mr. Nguyen Vu Quan provided a detailed presentation on the prominent issues in this field.

In his speech, Mr. Nguyen Vu Quan emphasized that Southeast Asia is currently emerging as an important hub for innovation and international trade. However, alongside attractive business opportunities, this region also presents an increasing number of latent legal risks related to intellectual property (IP), particularly for Chinese enterprises currently doing business or planning to expand their market presence here.

KENFOX shared a detailed overview of the IP landscape in key countries such as Vietnam, Thailand, and Cambodia, highlighting common risks related to trademarks, patents, industrial designs, and copyrights. Additionally, IP support policies in Southeast Asia were thoroughly analyzed, providing Chinese enterprises with a clearer understanding of the legal and business environment in the region.

The insights presented by KENFOX was highly appreciated by the businesses and IP professionals attending the event. The proposed solutions and response strategies are not only of high practical value but also contribute to raising awareness of the importance of building and implementing an effective Intellectual Property protection strategy when investing and doing business abroad.

Establishment of the Overseas Intellectual Property Service Station (Southeast Asia) in Hanoi

Notably, within the framework of cooperation, a significant event marking a new step in the relationship between KENFOX and its Chinese partners took place. The Weihai Intellectual Property Development Center, Hengda Intellectual Property Firm, and KENFOX Intellectual Property Firm officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding the establishment of the Weihai Overseas IP Workstation (Southeast Asia), with its headquarters located at KENFOX’s office in Hanoi.

This is a non-profit organization established with the objective of fulfilling intellectual property tasks assigned by the Weihai City Government, while simultaneously promoting the friendly cooperative relationship between KENFOX and Hengda. This Workstation will provide practical support services, including:

  • Consultation and guidance for enterprises in the Weihai area concerning the protection of intellectual property rights in Vietnam.
  • Risk monitoring for the timely detection of cases where enterprise trademarks are at risk of unauthorized registration.
  • Provision of support services for the protection of rights in intellectual property disputes encountered by enterprises in the area.
  • Support and consultation on intellectual property protection for enterprises from the area participating in exhibitions in Vietnam.
  • Research and dissemination of the latest legal information regarding changes in the intellectual property laws and policies of the Southeast Asia region.
  • Organization of non-profit training courses on intellectual property protection related to foreign trade activities for enterprises in the area.

The establishment of the Weihai Overseas Intellectual Property WorkStation (Southeast Asia) in Hanoi demonstrates the trust of the Chinese partners in KENFOX’s capabilities and experience in the field of intellectual property in the region. This is also a significant step forward, further facilitating Chinese enterprises in protecting their legitimate rights and interests when investing and doing business in the promising Southeast Asian market.
