Nguyen Van DZUNG is an IP attorney at KENFOX.  His legal practice includes all aspects of intellectual property law, with significant experience and emphasis on securing and protecting patent rights.  DZUNG regularly works with clients to develop and implement global intellectual property (IP) strategies skillfully tailored to business goals.  He is a licensed patent attorney, regularly prepares patent applications and has been successfully representing clients in connection with numerous patent applications before the IP Office of Vietnam, Department of Intellectual Property of Laos, Department of Intellectual Property of Cambodia.  DZUNG has significant experience in advising clients on validity and freedom-to-operate opinions. He also regularly consults clients in connection with patent due diligence analysis, patentability analysis, infringement analysis, license and patent assignment agreements, IP assets transfer agreements, IP ownership rights and joint research & development agreements.  Other aspects of DZUNG’s practice include patent litigation, trade secrets, trademarks and copyrights. 

Prior to joining KENFOX, DZUNG practiced law at a large local law firm for several years where he advised on intellectual property, technology, franchising, and regulatory issues.

• Prosecuted patent applications before IP Office of Vietnam and assisted clients in the acquisition of Vietnam and foreign patent rights in diverse technologies such as telecommunications, cloud computing, distributed computing, financial transactions, software, medical devices, electric power converters, mechanical actuators and lighting.
• Assisted clients in drafting and negotiating IP-related agreements including joint development, supply, licensing, sponsored-research, consultant, and confidentiality agreements.
• Provided strategic counseling for patent and trademark procurement (domestic and foreign) and portfolio management in the electrical, mechanical, and consumer product industries.
• Assisted clients with securing intellectual property rights in Vietnam and other Asian jurisdictions, providing freedom-to-operate, invalidity, and infringement/non-infringement analyses, analyzing license agreements, policies, warning letters, and due diligence/audit reports, as well as advocating for and defending clients in patent, trade dress, trade secret, and commercial litigation.
• Provided in-depth regulatory analyses and strategy for compliance, labeling, advertising/marketing/promotion, licensing and registration for manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers, compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices.
