Handle 10,616 cases of smuggling and violation in Customs field

VCN – According to the Ba Ria – Vung Tau Customs Department, through the review of the implementation of Circular No. 13/2015 / TT-BTC of the Ministry of Finance dated 30/1/2015, stipulating on the inspection, supervision and temporarily stop implement customs procedure for import-export goods which are requested for intellectual property right protection; control of counterfeit goods and infringing intellectual property rights, the unit has found problems.

Specifically, there are cases which are approved by the General Department of Vietnam Customs for inspection and supervision of import and export goods requesting protection of intellectual property rights. However, the search of information and records of intellectual property rights dossiers is still being done manually, causing manpower shortages, and wasting customs’ officers time during the process of customs clearance.

In order to solve this problem, Ba Ria – Vung Tau Customs Department proposed to General Department of Vietnam Customs to research the establishment of an electronic information management system on intellectual property for the whole sector. This data system would help the work of customs inspection and supervision of imported and exported goods with favorable requirements for intellectual property protection easier.
