KENFOX Promotes Cooperation with CIPSA and Chinese IP Partners

On March 26, 2026, KENFOX IP & Law Office welcomed a delegation from the Capital Intellectual Property Services Association (CIPSA) and various organizations and enterprises operating in the intellectual property (IP) sector in China. The visit provided an opportunity for the parties to directly exchange views on the investment environment, IP rights protection practices, and prospects for legal cooperation between Vietnam and China.

During the working session, the Chinese delegates noted that Vietnam is currently one of the key markets in Southeast Asia, attracting a growing number of foreign businesses, including Chinese investors. However, alongside the investment opportunities come significant legal risks related to the establishment, protection, and enforcement of IP rights.

Representing KENFOX, Mr. Nguyen Vu Quan – IP Attorney and Director of KENFOX – shared an overview of IP policies in Vietnam, emphasizing that trademark squatting remains a major challenge for foreign enterprises. In practice, many famous Chinese brands such as MAOGEPING, Xiaomi, MI, Majojo, Bluetti, and Chagee have been subject to trademark squatting or morphed into signs of commercial parasitism. Furthermore, patent disputes and infringement activities in Vietnam are also on the rise as rights holders intensify their enforcement efforts.

The Urgent Need for a Reputable Local Legal Partner

Agreeing with KENFOX’s analysis, Ms. Xiaokai JI (Irene) – Senior Partner at Beijing Rise High Intellectual Property Law Firm – shared that her firm is assisting numerous Chinese patent holders in expanding internationally, and the risk of their technology being infringed upon by competitors in local markets is substantial.

Following up, Mr. Zhang Rui – General Manager of Shandong Huicheng Intellectual Property Co., Ltd., one of the largest IP firms in Shandong Province – affirmed that their clients currently have an incredibly strong demand to expand into the Vietnamese and Southeast Asian markets.

Other senior delegates, including Mr. Xinyue Wang (Managing Partner – Beijing Chengfeng IP Agency), Mr. Yongjun Pang (Beijing Zhiyongyuan IP Agency), Ms. Xiaojuan Wan (Business Director – Beijing Nulekang IP Agency), along with Ms. Jing Wang (Secretary General of CIPSA) and Ms. Molly Zhuo (Foreign Affairs Specialist of CIPSA), all shared the same perspective: Vietnam is a top-priority market. For Chinese businesses to confidently establish and enforce their rights, Chinese IP law firms must build close, extensive partnerships with reputable local law firms that possess profound practical insight, such as KENFOX.

The delegation also highly appreciated KENFOX’s experience in advising and representing many major Chinese and international brands in Vietnam. The meeting concluded in an atmosphere of openness and goodwill, paving the way for sustainable cooperation between KENFOX and its Chinese partners in the near future.

Affirming Position and Vision for Cooperation

Within the framework of the visit, the Chinese delegation expressed a deep impression of KENFOX’s professional capacity and achievements. Specifically, KENFOX’s extensive experience is clearly evidenced by its successful representation of a “massive” portfolio of clients consisting of top-tier Chinese and global brands, including OPPO, TCL, Midea, Huawei, BYD, Pinduoduo, and Mixue.

The official working visit concluded with a warm and intimate dinner. Both sides believe that this face-to-face meeting has provided an excellent opportunity to enhance their mutual understanding of each other’s strengths and capabilities, thereby laying a solid foundation for comprehensive legal cooperation projects that will maximize the protection of investors’ rights in the future.
